Municipal Museum of Aljezur
The Municipal Museum of Aljezur is located in the old building of the Municipality of Aljezur, built in the 19th century.
This museum is divided into three distinct spaces; The Archaeological Nucleus, the Ethnographic Nucleus and the Islamic Room.
The Archeology Center presents a vast set of objects that testify to more than 10,000 years of human presence in the region, which includes the archaeological collection of Mirense (end of the Glacial Age - 7000 years BC), Late Neolithic/Chalcolithic (3000-2500 years BC. ) and Bronze Age (1200-900/800 BC).
The Ethnographic Nucleus presents a valuable collection of everyday life from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, related to agricultural, livestock and fishing activities typical of sea and land life. It also recreates some of the traditional rural environments of the region.
The Islamic Room (Sala do Legado Andalusino) includes a collection from the Islamic period, from various archaeological sites in the municipality of Aljezur.
